Blade of Treachery

"Well done, witch!" Sigurd said. "Perhaps once all this is over we will allow you a merciful death by burning. Lead us onward, to meet the vile wyrm and exterminate it where it sleeps."

"Wait." Velus said, motioning for the group to stop. "I sense a most heinous trap. Let the witch proceed ahead in case of the worst."

They herded Amy forward and fighting back tears she approached the cave entrances. She felt all their eyes fixed on her back. And then a twig crunched under her foot and she heard a scream behind her. Spinning around, she saw Velus perched atop Lord Marcus' head, shrieking like a wyvern and biting the elderly knight. Marcus screamed again as his brain was torn asunder.

"What madness is this?!" Sigurd exclaimed.

"He is possessed!!" Rondel cried. "We must save Lord Marcus!"

But it was too late. Marcus fell like a log, as Velus leaped off him and lunged into the undergrowth, gone in seconds. Rondel knelt beside Marcus's side as Sigurd rushed at Amy.

"This is your doing!" he yelled, striking her across the temple with the pommel of his sword. Amy squealed and went down, covering her face. Sigurd towered over her, ready to slash, and then Rondel had her sword pointed at the back of his neck.

"Stand down!" she commanded. "I'll cut out your villanous tongue, Sigurd!"

"So, the truth comes out." Sigurd chuckled wryly. "You are a traitorous wench, Rondel, likely in league with the witch and the dark forces that possess our esteemed Master Velus."

Amy touched her forehead and felt something warm and sticky. Blood. Where the humans of this world completely insane? She felt like wigging out.

And then she did in fact wig out. She leapt up into the air like a freak and kicked Sigurd's sword out of his hand. Ululating like a psychotic bimbo, Amy kicked out with both feet as she came down, knocking Sigurd backwards into Rondel, who moved her sword away just in time, but came crashing to the ground along with him. Within an instant, Amy had grabbed Sigurd's sword and stood with one foot on his chest, the sword pointed at his left eye.

"Curse you, you mad wench!" Sigurd panted. "Go ahead and kill me, like you killed Lord Marcus!"

Rondel did not speak, only stared at Amy with longing. Then Nigel burst out of the trees. He hopped from leg to leg and said "Amy! Good job! I'm sorry I'm late - I was distracted by a shiny object. Fortunately, here it is."

Indeed, Nigel was precariously holding a small silver mirror in his foreclaws. Amy turned back to Rondel and Sigurd.

1. Amy hacks them to pieces for their impudence.
2. Amy merely drives the sword into Sigurd's eye to punish him.
3. Amy kills Rondel and spares Sigurd, for reasons we may never fully understand.
4. Amy lowers the sword and collapses unconscious.
