Current Stacy noticed that, whilst Future Stacy merely seemed puzzled, the
Doctor and both Bettys looked very worried. "That's strange," the Doctor
muttered, He adjusted some controls on the console, to no noticeable
effect, then bent down and removed a panel from the base of the control
column and started poking about in the wiring that was now revealed.
Current Stacy thought that the circuitry looked remarkably primitive,
reminiscent of what she had seen in old SF films from thirty or forty
years ago.
"What is that bell?" Future Stacy asked. "I've never heard it before. Or if I have, I don't remember it." "It's the Cloister Bell," Red-haired Betty said. Seeing the looks of incomprehension on the faces of both Stacys, Brown- haired Betty explained: "It's an alarm signal. It means that something is very wrong." "Like what?" Current Stacy asked.
