At those words, Astra was left speechless. Not that Fred's statement had
been a surprise - it was the timing of it. It was a typical Aqualarian
custom for a couple to court for a number of years before eventually
getting married. A time to get more intimately known with one another
(short of actual intercourse - that was a big no-no), as well as being a
final test to see if they were really compatible with one another. Once
the first two years of courtship has passed, it was virtually unheard of
for couples to break up. Such behaviour would result in the couple
recieving the animosity of both families and the risk of becoming
outcasts. The time hadn't yet passed. Of course she realised she was just
being silly, as they weren't officially courting, nor was she exactly
bound by any Aqualarian laws at the current time. Besides, she thought,
such a union could only strengthen their two country's relationship. So she said yes. Fred was overjoyed and could only barely resist the temptation of trying to pick her up and twirl her around, which would only cause embarrassment for both parties. Instead, they hugged. Now Fred had to make the choice of whether they would go to Suffex or to Caemlyn.
