Dr McCoy, I may have need of your medical expertise in devising a counter for the parasites. So you and the orderly will come with me, and the rest of you will go with Mr Scott."

As Scotty, Sulu, Chekov and Fred headed for the Relay Junction, Fred asked: "Mr Scott, just how will taking the engines offline help us? It won't give us back control of the ship."

  1. "Maybe not, but it will take up a lot of their attention, and so may give us a better opportunity to try other things."
  2. "Maybe not, but it will prevent them from taking the Enterprise wherever it is that they want to take her."
  3. "That's just where you're wrong, lassie."
