"Well, I can't restore you," the man said, scratching the lioness's
head, "And I certainly can't keep you here with me. But I know someone
who will want you - and you will certainly fetch a handsome fee in
the process. What do you say?" he asked, producing a jeweled collar as he
spoke. The lioness purred in response. She vaguely noted that thing sparkled prettily in the light, but otherwise didn't react as the man placed the collar comfortably but firmly around her neck. "That's a good lioness. Now, stand next to me - we shall be at our next destination in no time." Obediently, the lioness stood calmly next to the man. He rapped his staff three times on the floor of the cavern, and then he and the lioness vanished. "She's gorgeous - and absolutely perfect." "So we have a deal?" "Quite so, yes. Here is your payment." "A great pleasure," the man smiled as he received his money. He didn't know why a healthy young lioness had been requested, but he was always happy to do business with:
