Gripping the weapon in her right hand so that she could easily press down
the stud that released the blue light, Astra pushed open the door and left
the room. She walked silently but swiftly down a corridor with Velus
scurrying shortly after her. With a weapon in her hand, alien as it may
be, her spirits lifted and she felt again like the warrior she was. She
was ready to slay her enemies without mercy or remorse. The only problem
now, she thought to herself as she reached a junction in the corridor, was
which way to choose. *** Ambassador Steven von Strutter fought down another shudder as he walked down the cold metallic corridor. Polite and pleasant as they may be, there was something about the alien creatures walking on either side of him that put his teeth on edge whenever he was near them. He would let none of his uncomfort show, however. Von Strutter was, as far as he knew, the only human that had been able to make diplomatic contact with the enigmatic newcomers and if he could strike an agreement with them to ally with his liege lord, lending the power of their fantastic weapons, he would be very well rewarded indeed. It was these thoughts that filled von Strutters head as he approached a bend in the corridor. Just as they was about to take the corner there came a sudden tone from the bracelet carried by one of the guards accompanying von Strutter. He had learned that these bracelets where in fact magical artefacts through which they could talk over any distance and through any walls. Both the sentries halted to answer the request while von Strutter continued a step forward before stopping. Thus he was the only one of the company to see the naked woman at the end of the next corridor. Von Strutter was taken aback totally, almost shocked, by the sight. The woman was facing away from him. She was obviously young yet clearly matured into full womanhood. Hard muscles flexed under her skin as she stood perfectly balanced in a predatory stance. Red hair fell in curls over her shoulders, her back was arched and her knees at an angle as she leant slightly forward, looking first one way then the other down the intersection by which she was standing. She was wet with sweat and her naked skin glistened in the starch light, creating a vivid contrast against the grey surroundings. Her perfectly honed body appeared to von Strutter as a symphony of hard and soft coming together in harmony. In his astonishment at seeing another human in this alien place, and the absurdity of her being totally naked, she seemed almost like a vision of some splendid pagan goddess. It lasted only for a second before she disappeared down the right junction, but the image would stay with von Stutter for the rest of his life. So captivated was he that he didn’t even notice the little dog that turned to look behind and, catching sight of him, quickly ran of after the woman. “Ambassador, is something wrong?” Von Strutter turned to look at the escort that had questioned him. He took a moment to compose himself before answering. “Not at all. Shall we continue?”
