Vincent Shows Up

Before either of them could offer an opinion, though, the room was filled with a burst of multi-colored lights, from which a figure seemed to materialize. It was that of a wizened old man - but with young, twinkling eyes.

"Dr. Vincent? the two exclaimed in surprise.

The old man paused to catch his breath. "Whooo. That certainly took the wind out of my - uhm - oh my, are you two lovely young girls the ones I'm seeking?"

"I'm Fred! That's Astra!"

"Oh dear. Apparently our little accident had worse side-effects than I had thought."

"No no, Vincent, that's not what caused this," Astra said. She briefly recapped their treatment by Pronklezilch and their rescue by Norla.

"I see. Well, I'm certainly glad to have found you at last - after the mishap with the spell to return Fred to normal [see ep 1186], it took a while before I was in shape to cast a location spell - and even then, you failed to show up until just a few hours ago."

"When I lifted the spell that made them believe they were a pair of bawdy girls, it must have made them appear to you."

"Quite so, madame. But in any event, we can return to my tower now - it certainly sounds as if getting them away from the influence of this Pronklezilch is for the good."

"Wait, Vincent," Fred said, "Is there any way you can somehow return us to our regular bodies?"

1. "Of course," Vincent nodded. "It should be simple - so long as no one sneezes again."
2. "I don't know," he said uncertainly, "It depends on how powerful this spell of Pronklezilch's is."
3. "I'm sorry," he said "Only the one who cast that particular spell can remove it."
4. "Maybe," he admitted, "But there's something you should know first..."
5. "I could - but I rather fancy the two of you this way."
6. Just then, there was a knock at the door of the cottage.
