Working Out the Details

"I see what you mean," Fred responded. "We still have all our bawdy girl wiles in the back of our minds that we can call on. But won't he be able to detect through his magic that we have our right minds back? After all, Norla was able to tell that we had been enchanted."

"That is certainly a risk," Norla said. "But if he is off his guard, and you don't give him cause to suspect you, you should have a fair chance of getting away with it for a few hours, which with luck should be all that you need. One problem that you will have is that your current clothing has nowhere where you could possibly hide even a small weapon, and if you wore any extra items you would be likely to make him suspicious."

"We'll just have to improvise then," Astra said. "Maybe use a kitchen knife as a weapon, or suffocate him with a pillow while he sleeps. We obviously will need to take him totally by surprise and kill him quickly, so that he won't have time to use his magic against us."

"Will we be able to find him?" Fred asked.

"That should be easy enough," Norla replied. "He has a house just out of town. If you retrace your steps as far as the main trail through the forest and then turn left, that will take you straight into town. It's about fifteen miles. In the centre of town, the road forks. Take the left- hand fork, and after about a mile you'll see a big house on your left. That's his."

1. Fred and Astra set out. Based on their old bodies, they expected the journey to take them about four hours but they soon realised that as they were now it would be more like six.
2. Fred and Astra reluctantly decided that trying to get their revenge would be too risky.
3. Before they could say anything else, Fred and Astra vanished.
4. Before they could say anything else, there was a puff of smoke, and Pronklezilch himself appeared.
5. Before they could say anything else, there was a burst of light, and Dr Vincent appeared.
