Fred and Astra spent the next fifteen minutes circumnavigating the pyramid
at what they hoped was a safe distance. However this proved uninformative.
There were no doors on the other three sides, nor any windows close enough
to ground level to be accessible. They saw no sign of any living creature.
"So what should we do?" Astra asked. "Go inside, or go on our way?" "The wise course might be for us to leave the pyramid alone. But my curiosity is too strong. I really want to go and have a look inside. But if you don't fancy it, then I'll understand and we'll go on our way." "I'm very curious about it too. Shall we be bold and take the centre door?" "Why not," Fred replied. "Of course, we're assuming that we can get in. Perhaps all the entrances will be looked." They walked up to the bronze door and Fred knocked on it with the hilt of his sword. They waited for a couple of minutes, but there was no response. In fact it was almost uncannily quiet. So they pushed on the door, and it swung open. They could see through the doorway a passage heading straight into the interior of the pyramid. It was lit by some diffuse source that they could not identify.
