The Semi-Desert

The pair soon found themselves in semi-desert, a stark contrast from the
valley they had not long left behind. Besides the desert itself, this was
one of the more hostile environments they could find themselves in. Sand,
rocks and a few straggling plants. The only wildlife they saw here were
fleeting glances of creatures such as desert foxes and geckos. Looking
around, they had to shade their eyes from the glare, counting themselves
lucky they weren't here at midday, where the heat would be near-
intolerable for someone like Astra who was more used to hot
climes. Of course, their biggest worry was that they would have to travel across the desert to get to this Temple of the Spirits. If they did, there would be no food or water unless they were directed towards an oasis. Even finding cacti, a good source of water, would be useless as they didn't have any means to cut it with. Fortunately, though, they found their fears were unfounded. The Temples of the Spirits was several miles to the northwest, in the region between the desert and semi-desert. To the pair it seemed like an odd place for a temple, but they just did as they were told. After returning the jewel, they could spend the night in the temple before carrying on.
