“Either of you ever shoplifted before?” you ask them. Astra sticks her nose up at you and huffs indignantly. “I am a prin-cess,” she retorts snootily. “Of course I’ve never...shoplifted.” She says that last word as if it was the name of a convicted child-molester. You shrug indifferently. “Fred?”Fred stares ahead with a blank expression. “Boobies?” “No, have you ever shoplifted?”Fred tilts his head slightly. “Have I ever shoplifted boobies?” “NO!” you rage. “Have you ever shoplifted - PERIOD!”“Oooh,” he says as if he knows what you’re talking about. “Um, maybe. Yes. Or...wait. No. Wait...I like Boobies.” “Great,” you mutter. “Guess it’s up to me. I haven’t done this since 7th grade. I can’t believe I’m doing this.” You quiet your thoughts for a moment. “Hmmm. Astra, why don’t you come with me? You’ll be my distraction.”Astra reluctantly agrees, but insists that if you get caught she’ll act like she never knew you. Fred looks distraught. “What about me?” he asks dejectedly.“Just hide behind a rock or something,” you reply hastily. “C’mon Astra, let’s do this.” But which store will you hit up first?
