Josh opens the Staircase Room window and chucks the rifle with the ducks
out. Whatever solvent was sticking the ducks to the gun meant they
couldn't detach themselves from it and so they plunged through the void
frantically flapping away, but to no avail. Josh watched them as they
eventually disappeared from view. So Josh had got rid of the ducks, but as a result he had also got rid of Scott. He was on his own now. Not for long though - Scott would eventually reappear. It seemed to be the way of things, here. Even death wasn't permanent. Bit eerie when you think about it, really. When would Scott reappear?
