Reunited with Velus

Velus was running around the portal in circles, yipping uncontrollably. Astra chased the
little dog-boy around and managed to get ahold of him, although he kept wriggling in her
arms. "What is it, Velus?" she asked. At that Velus began a long trirade in his barking code.
Fred and Astra listened attentively, leaving Ardua and Mist, who weren't familiar with their
code, a little perplexed.
"Were you and Astra just talking to that dog?" Ardua asked when he finally finished. "Don't worry, we've not gone mad yet," said Fred. "That is Velus. He was a teenage boy who the Dragon captured and turned into a dog." Fred then introduced Ardua and Mist to Velus. Velus sniffed distrustfully at Mist but seemed very happy that yet another incredibly beautiful woman had joined their party. Ardua scratched Velus's head affectionately. "Nice to meet you," she said. "So what did he just say?" "He was talking extremely fast," said Astra, "but as far as I could make out he saw that the portal was cycling through several locations, and one of them seemed to be where the Dragon was headquartered. Apparently, you can teleport to anywhere in the caves through the portal. However, there don't seem to be any way to control it." "The portal has to have controls somewhere," said Fred. "What could have been the use of it if it didn't?" There didn't seem to be anything on the wall at first glance, though. It was completely smooth. Fred, Astra, and Ardua stepped closer to the wall near the portal to search it for controls, but found none after scouring it intensely. "It's hopeless," said Astra. "I don't know," said Ardua. "Maybe the controls are back in the library or something?"
