The Never Ending Quest - Episode 46635

Note: This storyline ties in with the branch of As the Fur Flies that begins with episode 27341.

The witch Scarlett looked sadly upon the others who had been drawn into the thread of her life. They were three in number: A great, strong, handsome man dressed in Victorian clothing who seemed brutal and hateful, a living weapon, yet who had a noble heart in constant struggle with his baser instincts, a heart that burned with the pure fire of love as well as the noxious fire of hatred. An attractive young woman in a summer dress, with short brown hair, displaced and lost in her own self. And a teenaged elf, dressed in green, with bright blue eyes, filled with nobility and courage, cursed to wander among the worlds. She could help the first, Frederigo, but the second, Stacy and Link, were beyond her aid. They were caught up in a great battle which she dared not take part in, a war between powers which even her master, Oberon, feared.

Lord Frederigo D'Honaire looked upon the other three, scarcely knowing what to think. Scarlett had told her not to aid these two who had just appeared, the woman and the elf. But what could Frederigo do? After what he had done, he had sworn now to do his best to protect any woman who was in danger. He remembered with great shame what he'd done upon finding himself transported to Victorian London from an underground volcano and encountered the woman in danger. (Distraught and agonized, he had still not come to wonder just how it was that he now knew what Victorian London was.) Consumed by a strange bloodlust, his heart filled with rage, contempt, and hatred, he had all but killed the woman, Anna Gaines. He had suddenly realized the evil of what he had been about to do and was about to seek forgiveness from the woman when the police had stormed in on him and put him under arrest.

Then, a tall man who had almost seemed a demon had murdered the policeman who had arrested him before his eyes and, consumed by fear both of the demon and of what he might do if he dared to fight, watched as the thing had killed Anna. Then, consumed by the bloodlust,he had killed the thing and stolen an amulet he had found on her body. Then the strange amulet had possessed him, causing him to say a weird incantation over her body and to kiss her lips. The next day, he had heard how someone had stolen Anna's body and killed three workers at the morgue she had been in.

Then, he had been found by Scarlett, his joy and his salvation. The most beautiful woman Lord Frederigo had seen in all his life, with dark hair and hypnotic brown eyes. The amulet had forced Frederigo to follow her and to kiss her--at least he could be thankful to it for that. But it had then led her to Scarlett's coven and their master, Oberon. Just then, the police had burst in on them and arrested him yet again, taking him to the tower of London.

Luckily, Oberon and Scarlett had come to rescue him in short order. He and Scarlett had become separated from them and fallen into the river Thames, upon which they'd encountered the strangest part yet of Fred's ordeal. They'd been rescued by Stacy and Link, after which Scarlett had insisted that they not stay to aid them, as it would put them in grave danger.

Fred looked into the eyes of Stacy. Looking at her, he felt not the pure love and burning desire he had felt for Scarlett, but the same mix of lust and hatred he had felt for Anna. He felt as if his strange Bloodlust would burst to the surface once more at any moment. If Scarlett wanted to leave, that was her choice, but Fred knew that as a Knight of the Realm, he had the responsibility to protect Stacy at any cost. Yet what if by staying near Stacy he would put her in greater danger than if he had abandoned her?

Meanwhile, Stacy was assessing Fred in turn, lost in thought. She really wished that she would soon get some idea of just what the Hell was going on. She was tired of wandering through her life as if she were lost in a dark forest, with no memory of who she was or what she was caught up in. She remembered nothing before she'd found herself on a train in Manhattan earlier that day. Eventually, she'd found herself shuffled off to some book- signing conference where she found out how she'd once been a traveling companion of some time traveling adventurer known as the Doctor. The Doctor and his companions had come to rescue her, and she'd found herself trapped in a battle between two factions of Daleks, aliens who were the Doctor's mortal enemies. But then, some hideous smiley-face stick-figure thing had appeared out of nowhere and tried to kill her, and she'd been rescued by Link. The Daleks had restored her memories to her through a mind probe, but when she'd been confronted by that demonic thing, she'd somehow lost them yet again. Oddly enough, though she'd clearly never met Link, she had the odd feeling she'd seen elves before. And now she and Link had found themselves here, far from the Doctor, on the bank of some river somewhere, with hounds barking in the distance. Stacy wondered how this could possibly get any weirder, but knew that it soon would.

She could see that this Fred guy (who also seemed weirdly familiar) was conflicted about the witchy woman's order to leave them, but had no idea whether she could trust him or not. He sometimes seemed to look at her with bone-chilling hatred.

Stacy was about to say something when she saw dark shadows bearing down on them in the sky. They seemed to be in almost human shape. As they swooped closer, Stacy saw that they had burning red eyes full of alien hatred. She looked away, but knew that she had been seen. "No," said Scarlett. "It's too late."
