Airborne!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 46224

You climb into one of the flyers, sit down, and close the canopy. There only appear to be three controls: a big red button, which presumably switches the engine on and off, a foot-pedal, which you assume is the throttle, and a joystick. It looks so simple that you think you could have a stab at flying it. Someone has spotted you, and is running towards you, so you hurriedly press the red button, and the engine hums into life. You put pressure on the foot-pedal, and pull back on the joystick, and the machine takes off at a steep angle, forcing the man running towards you to throw himself to the ground.

You wish you knew in which direction Iskandr lay, since it appears that that is your home. Even had you a map, though, you have already learnt that you cannot read the local language. You head off in a random direction. One of the instruments appears to be a compass, so that you are able to keep on a steady heading, even if you can't read what that heading is.

  1. Flying this machine is not as easy as it looks. You crash into a tower of the palace.
  2. You leave the city behind without incident. Flying this thing is fun. Fortunately, there is bright moonlight, which makes holding a steady altitude easier.
  3. The man who tried to intercept you jumps into another of the flyers and gives chase.
