"As a matter of fact, I do," said Amy. She wished there was something she could say to make
Nigel feel better, but was so caught up in the excitement of seeing real humans that she didn't
care and probably couldn't think of anything anyway. "They're looking for the entrance, right?
So we could lead them to it. We know our way around the forest much better than they do,
because we've been hunting for all this time. So we could--" By now, Amy was smiling widely
and breathing rapidly.
"Er," said Nigel, rather nonplussed, "we're lost too, aren't we? That's the only reason we found them in the first place. We'd normally avoid humans with pointy sharp sticks, at least if we were sane--" Amy started crying. "Nigel, I'm sorry. I've just never seen any humans in over a year." She bent down and stroked Nigel's head. He growled affectionately. "I guess we might do the pit trap," she said after she had finished crying, "but are you sure you can't think of anything else?"
