Light and Water

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 45981

"This water seems clean," Eritrea said, "and I'm parched. I wonder what it tastes like." She bent down and took a sip. "Slightly copper tasting, but not unpleasant," she reported.

"Do you think it's safe to linger here?" Fred asked. "Someone must have been responsible for putting the braziers here, and we probably wouldn't want to meet them."

"We'll leave as quickly as we can," Eritrea said. "We'll quench our thirst, and then see if we can improvise ourselves a torch from one of the logs from that pile over there." She indicated where logs were heaped high, ready to be used as fuel for the braziers. "Then we'll take that exit on the far side over there, as going back the way we came would just lead us back to the brownies."

  1. They drank their fill, and then left, Eritrea carrying a flaming branch to light their way.
  2. But just then, someone [or something] emerged from the tunnel that they had been intending to take.
  3. The water was less innocuous than it seemed. Soon Eritrea and Fred felt its effect.
