Astra's holy sign of Apollo didn't seem to be having much effect on the
vampires. Fred had a better idea. He went over to the wall of the hut,
grabbed a couple of the main supports, and pulled. The flimsy structure of
branches, dried grass and leaves collapsed around them, exposing the
vampires to the full glare of the tropical sun. They died horribly. (They
had materialised in the hut when Josh had waved his hand, so they hadn't
been exposed to the sun previously.)
Or rather, all of the vampires bar one died horribly. For some reason, Vampire Josh seemed to be immune to sunlight. He took advantage of the confusion caused when the hut collapsed to grab the wailing Frieda from her crib.
