The Small Stream

As they wandered slowly onwards, they came across a small stream flowing
towards the lake now some miles to the north. It solved one of their
problems, that of something to drink. Food was another matter. Astra knelt
down as best she could while encumbered by the snake. It still showed no
signs of budging, or in fact of doing anything at all. Hearing a sound over the trickling of the water they turned northwards where they noticed a herd of wildebeest where the stream was wider. It seemed they had the same idea. A few looked in their direction with nothing more than idle curiousity. It was a shame they had a potential food source relatively close by but could do nothing about it. They both saw a flash of yellow, where a young lion lay partially hidden by some undergrowth. When it made its move, it was obvious that its experience at hunting was limited, as it attempted to bring down one of the larger adults. Something even a fully grown adult would have trouble with.
