Fred realised that his supplies hadn't been stolen after all. That must also have been part of the delusion that he had been suffering from. "I've got a spare set of underwear in my pack," he said. "It's very good for preventing chafing from my armour. You're welcome to it."

He pulled out a set of "long johns" and showed them to Astra. They were made of wool, and had perhaps once been white but now were grey. Fred's armour had worn holes in various places, some of which he had rather ineffectually attempted to darn.

  1. "I suppose they are better than nothing," Astra said rather dubiously.
  2. "Thank you, Fred, but I think I'd sooner remain naked."
