Astra regained consciousness with a pounding headache. She opened her
eyes, but could still see nothing. Someone had put a hood over her head.
Attempting to raise her hands to remove it, she discovered that they were
tied together behind her back. From the uncomfortable jolting and swaying
that she could feel, it seemed that she was lying in the back of a cart
which was descending a rough trail down the hillside.
"So you're conscious," a rough voice said. "Why were you spying in these hills?" "I wasn't spying. I came here by accident. Anyway, what's there to spy on? I could see no sign of civilisation."
