Astra introduced Ardua to Fred. After saying hello to her, Fred said: "I
don't like the look of this room." "I can assure you that, after the
room we've just been in, it looks heavenly," Astra replied. "It's light
enough to see, and it's more or less dry (except where we've dripped)."
"What's that yellow powder leaking out of that box where the rat has gnawed a hole in it?" asked Ardua. "I don't know," answered Fred, "but two things worry me. One is that there's a label on the box with a skull and crossbones and the words: 'DANGER. Magical supplies. Keep away from water.' The other is that where you and Astra have dripped is a rivulet of water that has just reached the leaking powder." The powder began to steam, giving off a yellowish vapour. "Quick!" cried Fred. "Through the door."
