Amy was sure that there was no way that the vine would support Fred's
weight, but nevertheless she did as she had been asked. To her
astonishment, with a great slurping noise he managed to pull himself free
and swing across to terra firma.
"Goodness," Amy said. "That vine must have been a lot stronger than it looked." "This is a jungle adventure, Amy. So the vine was bound to support my weight. You obviously don't know how jungle adventures are supposed to work." "Obviously not," said Amy, trying to keep her distance from Fred, who was now covered in stinking mud up to his armpits. Not that she was exactly clean or smelling of roses herself, of course. "Perhaps you should dispense with your armour," she suggested. "That would get rid of most of the mud, and you'd be a lot cooler too. You'd also be a lot lighter, so less likely to sink in any future swampy bits."
