An Awkward Awakening

"Girl?" said Chris. "What are you talking about? I'm a boy."

Amy didn't know how to respond. "Ummm, are you sure about that?"

Chris pulled her waistband forward and glanced down. "Oh my God! What did you do to me? I thought you said you were performing an appendectomy!"

"I did," said Amy, "you were like that before..."

Chris didn't hear anything Amy said. She was hyperventilating now, hopping about in shock.

"What am I going to do now? How am I going to explain this? What will my wife think?"

All this hysteria wasn't going to help Chris's post-op recovery. Amy held her shoulders down and looked her in the face.

"Look, you were like this before. The surgery had nothing to do with this. You've been like this for quite some time, I'd say."

Chris stared at Amy's bloody dagger with terror in her eyes.

1. "No, you're right," she said. "It must have been that wizard. He vowed vengeance, but I didn't believe he'd really be capable of anything like this."
2. "Where is it, you monster? Give it back! I know I took your underwear, but this is way over the line."
