Afraid of the Light

"Such flattery!" the One Shoggoth cackled. "But how do I know I can trust you now?"

"There is no 'trust' among demons, only Power. And since your power is greater than mine, I shall serve you. It's as simple as that."

"Well said! Prove your loyalty by enslaving the land you once inhabited - Allaria, is that what it's called? Destroy all who oppose you, and begin forming an army the likes of which has never been seen! If you serve me well, I shall give you this planet to do with as you wish."

"Yes, my foul, debased, monstrous Queen." Fred said. His psychic bonds were released and he bowed deeply. "It shall be my greatest honor to fulfill your every desire."

With that Fred took his leave and teleported himself to a random location within Allaria. His thoughts were bloody. To humiliate himself thus before that bitch! Fred felt unclean, violated. But she could freeze him in his tracks with a careless gesture. There was no way Fred could oppose her - yet.

Now where was he? Fred stood in a candlelit castle chamber. A girl was lying in a large four-post bed. She slept fitfully, as if tormented by nightmares. With a start, Fred recognized the Princess of Allaria. This bode well. That meant the King was nearby. It would be easy to subdue him and make him crawl like a maggot, begging for mercy.

The Princess suddenly bolted awake and stared at him with green eyes. "Who are you?"

"I am a nightmare."

The Princess said nothing, only continued to gaze upon Fred.

"Do you often sleep with the light on?" Fred smiled. "Are you afraid of the dark?"

"The darkness can be comforting. Are you afraid of the light?"

Was this some kind of challenge? How was Fred supposed to show this girl he wasn't afraid of light?

1. Kill her.
2. Come right out and say it "I am not afraid of light, bitch!"
3. Fall in love.
