You lead them back to the caverns and the small body of water Astra and
Fred drowned in.

The soldiers retrieve the skeletons they find.

They find skeletons. One by one, the soldiers enter, only to fall over and drown due to the water rusting up their armor.

No sign of the bodies. Could they have survived?

No bodies...but the ghosts take over two of the soldiers. Astra gets a guy and Fred gets a girl, this confuses them.

You slowly come to realize that you are still by the dead bodies, in fact, only a few minutes has passed since they passed out. Maybe if you force air into their soul receptacles...
