Splitting Up

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 42231

Astra was not happy. She was most especially not happy at having the idiot from Allaria by her side. One minute she was dancing with an ambassador from that barbarous land and the next she was on a beach and being kissed by an armor-clad imbecile from that self-same Allaria! The fool had told her that he had wished her upon that beach even though he didn't really know where that beach lay upon any map. With his actions plain before her eyes, she wondered if it wasn't the Ambassador who had cast the magic spell instead. The Princess from Aqualaria stealthly walked up the stone steps from whence the automaton had come.

"Hey," said Fred. "Where ya goin'?"

"Away."

"Do you know where we are?"

"Does it really matter?"

"Sure it does," answered Fred. "If you go the wrong direction we're sure to hit a patrol, maybe even more clock-men."

"And if I wait here I am sure to come up against some kind of enemy, clock, spring, or wind-up! You stay, but I am leaving!" Astra continued to climb, she heard nothing, saw no one, and she wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not. She entered into a hallway and saw that it lead off left and right.

"Which do you think we should take?" It was Fred.

Astra rolled her eyes. "You go left, I'll go right."

"Um, do you think that's a good plan... I mean, splitting up and all?"

Astra wanted to really strangle this buffoon. "Yes, I do think it is a good idea. That way at least one of us will get out." She then tiptoed away from the steps... and away from Fred.

"Um, OK," he said and began walking down the left corridor.

--------------- --------------- --------------- ---------------

Elsewhere in the palace Governor Gilder was sipping some Umlaut Tea, just one variety made of mint leaves. He had been told that there was a spy from the damnable lands of Gelda as well as one from Califie. He would let them sit, locked up until he felt fine and ready to thrash out confessions from them.

  1. Astra continues her stealthy escape within the palace...
  2. Fred continues walking down the corridor, though slow-witted at times he did realize that a good hiding place might be his best bet at this juncture...
  3. In the shipyards of Corona...
  4. In the Courtyards of the glorious Themyscira...
