The city (a fairly small one, if the size of the dots used to represent cities represented their
actual sizes) was not all that far from her. The journey was fairly short even on foot. It
would take three hours if she stayed
on the road on which she was currently traveling. It might be shorter if she cut directly
through the forest, but she was unwilling to take that risk in a land she knew so little of. Of
course, civilization carried its own risks. She had no idea what the local customs were, and
although the mage had cast a translation spell on her it apparently applied only to speech,
not writing. Nonetheless, she had to get there quickly if she wanted to reach "Mercury" and
gain some understanding of what was happening to her.
