Fred grabbed at Jarlath, but he pulled free again. Fred would normally
have expected to be able to restrain him without too much trouble, being
much the stronger. Had Jarlath's strength somehow been magically enhanced
or his own been drained? Jarlath walked steadily on, zombielike, some ten
yards behind the enchantress.
Then the far wall of the cavern came within range of the flickering light of Fred's torch. There were three sets of shackles attached to the wall. Were they intended for Astra, Jarlath and himself? One set was jiggling about. He realised that Astra must already be imprisoned in them. It seemed that the strange woman had been caused no problem by Astra's invisibility, but had captured her as she appeared to be about to capture Jarlath.
