Astra Meets Velus
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 4107

Although it took some time considering Velus' impaired mode of
communication, Astra and Velus soon had minimal background information on
each other. Velus learned of Astra's imprisonment, and how the Dragon was
allowing her to attempt to escape for sport. Astra learned of the human-
turned-animal community living in the cave, and how they had sent Velus
out to look for help.
Astra paused to think. Clearly, the animals living in the cave could never become human again without her help. On the other hand, helping them would only delay her own escape from the cave, and could be for naught. Velus also paused. He had been sent to find a warrior, but Astra was a woman. He lived in a sexist time and place, one that had a hard time accepting women in combat (sound familiar, gentle reader?). However, she did seem tough and strong, and was the only human he'd seen for some time.
