Velus' Quest

Suddenly, Velus blacked out. When he awoke, he found himself in a dark cave somewhere. Nearby, a confused little dog stood looking around. Velus looked closer at the dog, and saw that it had green eyes. Beautiful green eyes, like Aurora. That's when the realization set in, the horror that his beloved had been transformed into a mangy mutt.

Velus tried to speak, but all that came out were whines and barks. "That's odd," Velus thought. He noticed a small pond on the floor of the cave. Looking inside, he found that he too had been transformed into a dog!

With a little investigation, Aurora and Velus sniffed around and found a large cavern populated by all kinds of animals. They soon realized that this was their entire village, somehow transformed! There was much squaking and mewing and such, but the menagerie was quieted by the mayor, who had (thankfully) been transformed into a parrot and could therefore speak:

"Good people...er, beasts. I bid you listen. The Dragon has sought revenge for our misuse of natural resources, and has turned us all into animals. As you can see, it's not a very pleasant fate." An oink of agreement came from the crowd, and the mayor continued. "We need the help of a warrior in human form to save us, for I doubt we could save ourselves in these crippling forms. I need a volunteer to seek out such a warrior. It will be a dangerous quest, and you may not come back alive. I warn you now before anybody volunteers with false hope."

The animals looked around at each other, wondering who it would be. A small paw rose up in the back. It belonged to Velus!

"You, the small dog," said the mayor. "You agree to find us a noble warrior?"

Velus nodded. He looked over at Aurora, and could swear he saw tears coming from her little doggie eyes. He licked her goodbye and wandered down the cave.

"Scram, would'ya?" the woman told him, adding "I have no room for additional travellers on my journey. And besides, I'm a cat person."

Velus decided to make his point plain: "Yip YAP!" he demanded.

1. The woman talks to Velus. He learns that she is named Astra, and that she is a warrior princess.
2. The woman talks to Velus. He learns that she is name Exotica, and that she is the King's Daughter.
3. The woman ignores Velus and continues on her way, leaving him behind.
4. The woman, tiring of Velus' yapping, attempts to slay him!
