The Red Carpet

Still not sure of the point, Fred quickly slipped off what he was wearing and pulled the dress over his head. As it settled into place, he was less than surprised to discover that his body had changed to fit it. A nearby mirror confirmed that Fred was now a fully female female, with a set of spectacular curves, long auburn curls and an angelic-looking face.

"Very nice, milady!" the voice laughed. "I must say you look quite beguiling in that outfit."

"Do you really think so," Fred asked, examining himself critically in the mirror, too caught up in how the dress fit to notice the mocking tone. He was pleased to see the gown was slit high enough to show off his stunning legs.

"Oh, very much so, I'll admit. But enough of this - you must proceed onward. Just follow this carpet to your new destiny." As the voice spoke, a trail of plush red carpet appeared, leading through the back of the wardrobe and beyond.

"What? Oh - okay. Bye-bye, then," Fred said, and began stroling down the carpeted path.

That was pretty strange, she thought. I wonder who that strange voice was - they were pretty nice, though. I mean, they gave me this really nice dress and all. Still, I wonder if I oughta go back - it seems like there was something I had to do back there. Oh well, I guess it'll wait - I mean, this is really important.

Just then, the top of the cavern descended just as a low, leather-lined bench appeared. Unfazed, she sat on the bench, scooted over to the other end, and opened the door.

A cheer arose from the crowd outside and flashbulbs began going off as she exited her limousine. Basking in the applause, the woman waved happily to her adoring public. As she paraded down the red carpet, another woman came over and pulled her in front of a camera.

"Hello, everyone," the reported said, "Katie Nordquist reporting for 'Entertainment Now' at Allaria Auditorium, the site of this year's Academy Awards! And I'm here with one of Hollywood's most beautiful stars, nominated tonight for her breakout role:"

1. "Nicole Hurley, star of Cave of the Dragon!"
2. "Julia Bullock, star of A Distant Voice!"
3. "Halle Houston, star of The Magic Wardrobe!"
4. "Cameron Barrymore, star of Freddy's Angel!"
5. "Renee Judd, star of The Eternal Quest!"
