The Never Ending Quest - Episode 4004

Fortunately, Fred's fox senses allow him to see the direction to the cave entrance. His horse was long gone, having been led back to the village by a local blacksmith.
Fred's many adventures had driven the blacksmith's pleas from his mind. His son, Velus, had vanished near the caves and the man, Stonn, had promised Fred anything in his shop if Velus, alive...or dead...was brought back. And Stonn did have a headband of intelligence, which would be wonderful for the King's daughter, who lacked the intelligence one would expect of a sixteen year old. But that was neither hear nor there. Fred had to get back to the cave entrances first.
He loped down the side of the hill as if he was born half-wolf. It occured to him that he should not be so used to the senses of this bizarre, but fascinating new form. Maybe...it was part of the magic of said form. No use being turned into this and then becoming a senseless wreck just because he can and just did hear an armadillo fart a hundred yards away.

  1. What does an armadillo fart sound like?
  2. Um, anyway. Back to the story. Fred enters the caverns. Left, or right?
  3. Fred senses Velus, who smells a lot like his dad. The trail leads up the mountain and into a wooden cabin that smelled wrong on so, so many levels.
