The Halfling, who goes by the name Jon Barleycorn, quickly explains. Indeed, it had been the dragon. One of the treasures the dragon had gained was the gemfruit, which is supposedly the best tasting fruit ever. Halflings, who are powerful when it comes to quests, had managed to acquire it but not taste it. The dragon had overwhelmed Jon with magics. Now, Barleycorn was cursed to live out his days in this malformed body, only eating a few lettuce leaves or similar products. For all halflings, who loved food, this was torture.
