A New Uniform - and a New Role?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 39551

Fred examined all the clothing, but despite his best efforts, he kept coming back to one in particular. Finally, he gave in to his curiosity and picked it up.

It was a blue dress, with a low-cut neckline, made of a very odd material that felt like none Fred had ever encountered. There was an odd sigil of some sort on the bre- on the front of it. It was like a red pentagram with some sort of scripted character embedded in red on a golden interior.

Fred stood for a few moments, alternately admiring and scoffing at the dress. This isn't for me! he thought angrily. How could I possibly bring myself to wear something like this?!? Still... it looks very nice - there's something about it...

Finally, Fred slipped the dress off its hanger. Acting quickly, as though doing so meant he didn't have to acknowledge what he was about to do, Fred removed the remainder of his armor (though, oddly, he elected to keep the heels), and slipped the dress on.

Then, as the dress was pulled into place, he felt his torso shift and change. Fred sighed as, as he feared, his chest blossomed outward and his waistline shrank, confirming the voice's taunting declaration - Lord Fred was now Lady Fred.

"You're entirely correct, my dear," the voice said laughingly. "Now that you've made your choice, you can proceed."

"To where?" Fred said, shocked at how melodic and enticing - how feminine - her voice had become.

"You shall see," the voice said. "Just step forward."

Fred began to walk towards the back of the seemingly endless wardrobe. Before leaving, though, Fred noticed that there was a bright red cloak or cape attached to the hanger. With a shrug, Fred pulled it off and fastened it to the back of the dress.

Fred was surprised at how comfortable the dress felt . She was also a bit scandalized at how revealing it was, ending as it did several inches above her knees, and exposing almost every shapely inch of her legs.

As she walked on, Fred could tell that changes were still taking place. She realized her high-heeled shoes had reverted to boots - but tall ones, and ones still with heels.

Something else was occurring, too. For some reason, Fred was feeling better than she ever had before - stronger, swifter, more powerful. I almost feel like I could take on a whole nest of dragons single- handledly!

Finally, she reached the back, where she found a set of doors - but ones with no handles. Well, another puzzle, she thought grimly. She stepped forward to test the doors and found them sealed shut. In frustration, she thumped her first against them - and they exploded outward from the force of the blow!

"What?!?" she exclaimed.

Beyond the door lay a room lined in metal. In the middle of the room were a trio of rough, evil looking men. Two were pulling what looked like valuables - gold, silver, jewelry, documents - out of metal boxes and stuffing them into sacks. The other had what was obviously a weapon trained on a small, nervous looking little man.

"Look out! It's her!"

"I know who it is, moron!" said the one with the weapon. "Okay, you just stay there, you hear? Or Mr. Bank Manager here gets a ventilated skull!"

Angered by this villain's act, Fred glared at the weapon - and suddenly felt her eyes grow red hot. So, too, did the weapon, which the criminal dropped with a yelp of pain.

One of the other men in the vault pulled another weapon and discharged it in Fred's direction. Fred was at first astonished, then delighted as the projectiles bounced harmlessly off her and lodged in the floor. With a speed that defied description, she rushed forward and knocked the man out.

The remaining crook dropped to his knees and raised their hands in surrender.

The bank manager rushed forward. "Oh, thank you, thank you! You're a true hero, miss! They were going to kill me!"

Suddenly, she knew where she was - and who she was. "Not while I'm on the job," she said with a dazzling smile. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll get these guys where they belong." And with that, Supergirl picked the three burly men up like they were pillows and flew off to deliver them to jail.

  1. Supergirl has no recollection of Lord (or Lady) Fred.
  2. Supergirl remembers being Fred, but that part of her life is over - this is who she is now!
  3. Fred knew everything Supergirl knew, except how to get back to her original quest!
  4. Supergirl really was Supergirl and had just hallucinated that she was Fred.
