Cecelia wanted to tell Fred that Belboz's version of the truth was not
entirely accurate - but she felt doing so right there and then was
not the wisest course open to her. An enraged Fred might do something
nasty to Belboz. Or a spiteful Belboz might do something permanent to
Fred - or he might turn his wrath towards her. She didn't really know
what mischief a powerful magic-wielder like Belboz was capable of, and she
had no desire to find out that way. For his part, Fred was still coming to terms with his new reality, but seemed to be adjusting rather quickly. "It seems, wizard, that if you are going to attempt to expose Rogell as the dastard that he is, you'll be in the need of someone with a good sword arm. And I take it you'd like my company, correct?" Belboz laughed and clapped Fred on the shoulder. "I would gladly take you along, my good knight," he said heartily. "Your knowledge and experience should prove quite valuable." "Then for now, my service is yours - especially since I seem to have no place else to go." "Then let us not waste time," Cecelia said. "I'm quite anxious to return to my father's castle." "Quite so, quite so," Belboz muttered. "Fred, lad, I'm not as spry as I once was - would you do me a favor and retrieve that blue book at the top of that 12-shelf case there? I may have need of it." Fred looked up. "You shouldn't store important stuff like that where you can't get it, Mage. Just a moment." And with that, he sprinted off and began climbing. "What's that" Cecilia asked. "Hm? Oh, just a recipe book. I needed Fred out of the way for a few moments." "Oh? Um, why?" the princess asked nervously.
