The Two Redheads

Just then they turned a corner, and were startled by what they saw. A naked woman was chained to the wall. Her red hair was long and her hands were not calloused, but other than that she could almost have passed as Artemis's twin sister. She was just as beautiful, just as tall, and just as muscular. The two women stared at each other for a moment, apparently weighing one another up, whilst Fred's gaze swivelled from the prisoner to Artemis and then back again.

It was Artemis who spoke first. "Greetings. My name is Artemis. I work in the wayside inn that's situated only a couple of miles down the road through the Shreken. And this is Lord Fred, who is here on a quest to kill the dragon. And you are?"

"Pleased to meet you. I am Princess Astra of Aqualaria. I too am a dragonslayer. Or at least, that was my intention, But as you can see, things have not been going too well. Lord Fred, perhaps you would be good enough to use your sword on my chains?"

Checking that Artemis was out of the way of his stroke, Fred aimed a mighty blow at the chain holding the Aqualarian princess's left arm to the tunnel wall. She carefully kept her arm clear so that he could strike without hitting her.

1. He severed the chain with his sword, and then repeated the process with the chain restraining her other arm.
2. He struck the chain, which notched the sword and was not harmed by it.
3. As he prepared to strike, the passage went pitch dark and they heard evil laughter.
