It only dawned on the constable afterwards that, whilst keeping one
petite girl under his control was fairly straightforward, doing so with
three would be next to impossible, and that he should have asked some
public-spirited citizens for help, even if it would have meant sharing the
reward.
Seeing Sigourney's arm held firmly by a man in constable's uniform, and the distraught expression on her face, Thelma and Louise did not need to ask any questions. As soon as he was within range, Thelma kicked him hard on the shin, whilst Louise's kick was aimed at his groin. The constable went down in agony, much as Nilth had done a few minutes earlier, letting go of Sigourney in the process. "Quick!" Sigourney told her "sisters". "This way!" She had realised that it would be a bad mistake to mention the 'Nyriad' - or even the docks - within the constable's hearing. Fortunately the vegetable seller that Thelma and Louise had been haggling with showed no inclination to intervene. In fact the broad grin on his face suggested that he might not be overfond of the constabulary.
