The ship - a schooner - evidently saw their boat, since it altered course
to head straight for them. Astra and Alexis hurriedly took down their
shirts from the improvised sail and put them on again. At least, they
tried to do so hurriedly, but were hampered by their shirts having dried
almost as stiff as boards because of the salt. Eventially they managed to
get them on, however.
The schooner hove to a short distance away and let down a boat to pick them up. Our heroes saw that the boat crew:
