I Believe I Can Fly

Looking up at the departing dragon, Fred's face grew hot as he realized something he found embarrassing. He had never experienced flight in his dragon form! He felt like a child who never learned how to walk!

Looking over his shoulders to make sure no one was watching, he removed his clothes and armour and hung them on some of the pegs. He shifted into dragon form. Staring up towards the hole in the ceiling, he gulped. He thought, All right, don't be nervous, this should be instinctive, and spread his wings and leaped upwards.

Boom!

Fred's unsuccessful flight attempt had landed him on his back. He quickly looked around, to see if he'd attracted any attention. Not seeing anyone, he righted himself, and tried unfolding his wings again to see if he had hurt them. They were alright. Well, that was a complete failure, he told himself. He half wanted to try again, but was afraid of the reaction he would get if any of the shifters found him jumping around crashing to the ground. He was about to turn back into his human form and get dressed, when he heard a familiar voice behind him.

"Well! That was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen!"

Fred turned and came face to face with a ghostly white Belboz.

1. "Surprized to see me? I should think so!" Belboz said.
