The Mysterious Disc

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 37220

As the four young heroes walked down to the disk, Jarlath found himself lost in thought. Normally when he was dealing with magical matters they took up the whole of his attention, especially when it evolved a mysterious disk falling out of the sky and burning down half the forest. But Jarlath, naturally enough, couldn't stop thinking about Carola. What had she been thinking when she kissed him? Did she genuinely love him or had she just been teasing him? Why was it that he was starting to wonder whether or not he loved her when they'd only known each other for about a day? Carola was certainly beautiful and sexy and a fun person to be around and someone he wanted to get to know better, and Jarlath certainly liked the idea of love at first sight on some level, and Carola was very much the kind of girl you'd fall in love at first sight with, but did things actually work that way? It all seemed a bit silly, like those annoying romances which his sister Rowena had been so obsessed with. Well, dragons had Eye Meets Eye, but Jarlath had managed to avoid most of the usual methods of being transformed into a dragon.[1]

No. He had to keep his mind on whatever it is that they were involved with, although it was less easy to understand. He never thought he'd something more incomprehensible than love and desire, but this came pretty close. Up close, the disk was:

[1]: IE having dragon's blood fall into one of your wounds, sleeping on a dragon's treasure while thinking greedy thoughts, and drinking Chaos Energy Ale.[2]

[2]: An alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of joshberries, a very potent material component used in wizarding spells. It tastes horrible creates possibly the most complete state of drunken oblivion of any ale in the Kingdom of Allaria, although it has certain unpleasant side effects, such as turning people into monsters and creating hangovers that literally make your head explode. It is very popular on college campuses.

  1. A chariot with a majestic, golden-haired man at the reigns, harnessed to sun-gold horses that seemed to have fallen to the ground dead. The chariot and the horses radiated a now-dim halo of light that had made it seem like a disk.
  2. A large, squat, vaguely saucer-like object with a bulbous dome on top.
  3. An enormous turtle. On its back it bore four miniature elephants, and on their back these in turn bore a miniature disk-shaped world.
