The frightening figure that shambled into the study was fully eight feet
tall, and looked like a cross between a bear and a man. "Who are you
people?" he asked, in surprisingly cultured tones. "What are you doing in
my study? And why is the woman wearing my jacket?"
I guess that makes sense, Astra thought. Someone whose jacket would reach my knees would need to be that tall. Meanwhile Fred said: "We are here by accident. I am Lord Frederigo D'Honaire, the lady is Princess Astra of Aqualaria, and the dog is really a teenage boy called Velus who is under an enchantment." "Really?" the creature said, sounding rather sceptical Fred thought. "I suppose I should introduce myself in return. I am generally known as the Beast. Now, there are still two more questions for you to answer." "We are here by accident," Astra said. "We were on a quest to kill the dragon of the Northern Caves - or Southern Caves according to the Allarians, when we accidentally got sucked into a tapestry that depicted this study. I am wearing your jacket because I have nothing else to wear, but of course I shall return it if you wish."
