Sandra's heart skipped a beat. Whatever would hide in a seemingly abandoned keep in the
Shreken was likely far from pleasant. It was probably brigands, or worse. The Shreken was
said to be crawling with dark magic, which was why expeditions were seldom sent into the
Shreken without a wizard to aid them. Sandra, of course, had no such aid. She would have
to rely on her wits, her strength, and her sword alone, which was the way she preferred
it.
She did not want to enter the keep yet, deciding to go some distance from the keep, rest, and investigate it tomorrow. Just as she was about to walk away, she heard the clicking of a crossbow being cocked. When she turned around, she saw
