Nigel's Proposal

"Excuse me?" Amy blinked.

"You know... climb on my back!" Nigel grinned by curling his upper lip to reveal rows of sharp pointy teeth. "We could be a team! I could kill things for us to eat when they're nearby, and you could kill them from a distance with those fast pointy sticks."

Amy thought about this. It seemed like a strange proposal, but Amy desperately needed companionship and some measure of security. She nodded yes and climbed upon Nigel's back...

A year had passed. As Amy turned 20, she realized she was now a hardened dino-rider and all-around butt-kicking warrior woman. Nigel had indeed found for her a bow in a weapon-stash of an orc tribe he had slaughtered. Her old clothing hung in tatters around her shiny, muscular frame, but since they lived far from civilization Amy felt no shame about it. Nigel told her that there were indeed other humans on this world, but they were dangerous and not to be trusted.

It was a difficult but happy life. Nigel would indeed hunt down prey with his massive jaws, and Amy could snipe out a rabbit from as far as 200 meters, all thanks to her participation in the school archery team. Amy too cooked the food, and helped Nigel with splinters and thorns that would get into his hide. He in turn let her ride him everywhere and protected her from the monsters. At night they would sing songs and play like little children, sharing their most intimate thoughts with each other.

But still Amy missed human companionship, and often wondered what was going on with Fred and Rami back home. And then one day...

1. they were surrounded by a squad of mounted knights in the forest.
2. they got lost in the caves and ran into the Dragon.
3. they were abducted by aliens.
