Our tale takes place in the world of St. Arkengard, blessed by the light
of the seven moons. In the year 804 of the Vladimirian Calendar, as the
Silver and Black moons aligned opposite the other five, Professor
Faredocious found a newborn baby girl wrapped in swaddling blankets and
abandoned in the cruel snows of winter. Despite being a newborn, she
already had a shock of strawberry blonde hair, and Professor Faredocious
named her Violette (after the color of her eyes) and gave her a middle
name, Miyaki, after a legendary Yaiponese Philosopher. He took Violette to
the boarding school where he was teacher - the Aravarius Academy of the
Philosophies - and gave her to his barren wife Miltha to raise as her
own. The wee babe soon grew into a pretty young lass of sound though rather hairy body, a mind insatiable for knowledge and learning, and a penchant for mischief, but above all a love for people and animals, and a burning concern for the human condition. When she was old enough she was enrolled in the Academy, where she learned the skills of the Philosophers. Now unlike on Earth, where Philosophers were mainly harmless beings, on St. Arkengard a Philosopher learned not only the teachings of the thinkers of old, but also the ways of the fist and the sword, and powerful magic Techniques of both healing and destruction. In all fields young Violette excelled. She rapaciously consumed the works of Rescaret, Seranius, Volarche, Hewit, Miyaki and Balanger. She was a natural with the rapier, easily besting older and more experienced students. Magic flowed through her like water, astounding the old professors with techniques it had taken them decades to master. Yet through it all Violette remained a girl both humble and unassuming, loved by as many for her helpful ways as she was hated by many for her talents, and previously mentioned penchant for mischief.
