Finding the Source of the Music

Could there really be someone down here playing the flute? She felt that she had to find out, and at least a flautist seemed unlikely to be threatening. So she left the cavern behind her and cautiously advanced along the centre tunnel. Soon it became clear that it really was a flute that she could hear - or at least some instrument that sounded very like one.

Emerging into another cave, she found that the musician was:

1. A man in a smart suit, as though he had been plucked out of a symphony orchestra.
2. A teenage girl wearing a long white dress.
3. A satyr playing a set of pan-pipes.
4. Not a person at all but a battery-powered CD player. Who could have left such a thing there, in what was supposed to be a low-tech world?
