Borgatron 5000 flexed his muscular arms and pulled. (Rami felt that it
would be rude to think of the cyborg as an "it".) With seemingly little
effort on Borgatron's part, the chains came free where they had been
attached to the wall. With his left hand, he broke open the manacle around
his right wrist and then threw the chain away. Then he repeated the
process on the other chain. "That's better," he said.
"If you're that strong," Rami said, "why didn't you break free before." "I had no orders to do so," Borgatron explained. "Unfortunately I haven't been programmed to show initiative. It's very tedious." "It must be," Rami sympathised. "So although your upper half looks human, it obviously isn't, if your brain is artificial." "No, in spite of appearances my top hald is just as artificial as the rest of me. Originally I was to be an android, but Professor Zarf's funds ran low before I was finished and he had to economise on the construction of my lower half." Rami was rather glad about that. If Borgatron had looked wholly human then she would have felt far more embarrassed about her own nudity. Then she remembered something rather worrying that Borgatron had mentioned earlier. "You said that some ugly humanoids chained you up. Humanoid rather than human? What were they then?"
