The Horseless Carriage

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 36155

Perched in the hole in the wall was what appeared to be a vehicle, even though there was no horse or other animal to draw it. It was made from some kind of metal. Although the contraption appeared to be of quite heavy construction it was now badly bent from the impact. Perched on top of it was a gnome, who seemed to be uninjured.

"Oh dear!" the gnome said. "I'm so sorry for damaging your building. I was testing my new invention - I call it a horseless carriage. I thought that in the early hours, when there would be no-one on the streets, would be the safest time to go for a run. However I'm afraid that I had a slight steering problem. But where are my manners? I should introduce myself. My name is Plucky."

The gnome had spoken very fast, but now at last he paused for breath.

  1. Fred, Astra, Velus and Khrusti introduced themselves.
  2. Disregarding the demands of etiquette, the four did not reply. They were too busy climbing over the rubble and into the street. They needed to get well away before anyone came to investigate.
