Astra's surprise over the disintegration of her shift was soon surpassed
by the terror she felt at being lifted into the air by the same force that
had toppled the statues. She didn't cry out, so Fred didn't awaken from
his slumber. She was thrown up tens of feet into the air, and she felt she
was going to die when she fell back down. This wasn't to happen. She fell
back down only to be cushioned by...something. She wasn't injured in any
way. This continued for a while, and Astra got the feeling she was being played with like a toy. This was reinforced when she heard what sounded like child-like laughter in her head. This strange force had some form of sentience, she was sure of it. Foremost in her mind though was the possibility of her being discarded like a rag doll. Eventually the force had got fed up of throwing her up and down. She found herself being the object of a game of catch. The force threw her a fair distance, and then rushed over to catch her again. Thrown back and forth like this Astra began to feel queasy. Later, she felt like she had an invisible string or something attached to her and Astra found herself being thrown about. She had no way of knowing it, but the force was using her in a similar way to a yo- yo. When the end came, Astra's fears of being casually discarded were unfounded. She found that to her relief she was placed gently down on the ground. And then it was Fred's turn, as his was put through the same as Astra. Funnily enough though, Astra didn't feel worse the wear regardless of what she had just been through. There were no aches or pains, no bruises or broken bones. Fred unconsciously checked himself out as well with the same result. Before they engage in any discussion about what happened their attention was diverted by a ball of white light which appeared in front of them. To their amazement it began to coalesce into the form of a human girl of around ten or eleven years of age. When it (she?) finally spoke, her voice had a curious echoing quality to it. "My name I cannot produce in your language. I think the closest to it would be Fiona. I apologize for any trouble I have caused you. You see, my race naturally sees fun and amusement as important to everyday life. The eldest among us can restrain these urges. I unfortunately cannot. You see, I am only three hundred of your years old." Both Fred and Astra gasped at this. "But you only look to be around ten years of age," Astra finally said. Fiona nodded. "That is an estimate of how old I would be on my world." Fred looked like he was trying to find something to say. "Your world?" he eventually said. "You're not from around here?" He tried to hide his incredulous look without much success. Fiona shook her head. "No. I come from far away." She pointed to the sky. "My family were visiting this world, and I got left behind. They are on their way back now," she added. This was almost too much for the pair of them. The concept of there being other planets, let alone ones with life, was completely alien to them. They both had to sit down as it was almost too much for them to take. Fiona looked upset. "I will leave you now," was her parting words as she returned to her true form.
