The 'Loopy' Staircase

Not that Fred would have heard anything. He decided right at that moment to go down the staircase to see if he could find and sort out what had caused this weirdness. After a few minutes travelling down, he saw a funny sight. It was the couch. Sure enough, he had landed up back at the Staircase Room. The infuriated Fred walked back up the stairs. Once again he found himself at the Staircase Room.

Fred's anger had by now turned to confusion. He had gone both up and down the stairs yet had ended up back here. What's more, he could see absolutely no reason for it. He looked at the still silent couch, his muddled mind coming to the conclusion that the couch must have something to do with it. Or maybe it was the stairs themselves?

1. Fred hacked the couch to peices and then walked downstairs. It worked.
2. As above, but he finds himself yet again at the Staircase Room.
3. Fred attacks the spiral staircase.
4. Fred drowns his sorrows on some cheap beer he found in the box of food.
5. The couch starts singing extremely off-key.
